CONTINENTAL GRAND PRIX 4000 Tire

This handmade German folding bicycle tire from Continental is made from an activated silica compound for added rolling resistance and stability. The rubber has a built-in anti-tear formula which prevents tread brittleness and extends the life of the tire. Available in many Xirallic colours, shown in the chart below with the specifications for each color tire.

Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art Black Chili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course our Vectran™ anti puncture breaker layer underneath.

Whats the big deal about Black Chili? Black Chili is the name for our latest tyre compound which hit the market in 2007 and has fast become a hit with cyclists across the world who have marvelled at its performance beneifits. The fact is that Black Chili will improve our tyres performance in all areas. We can even make a tyre to last longer, yet also grip better and roll faster! The figures are astounding; 26% lower rolling resistance, 30% higher grip, and even 5% longer mileage.

Vectran™ Breaker The innovation in puncture protection unique to the GP 4000 and GP 4000S tires. Vectran™ is a multifibred thermoplastic yarn, made of melted Vectra™ Liquid Crystal Polymer. Vectran™ is the only LCP fibre in the world, which is made using a spinning process. Reinforcing and matrix fibres made of Vectran™, are lightweight, extremely durable, have reliable longevity and are five times stronger as steel. With a layer (breaker) of Vectran™ under the tread, the tyre is protected from breakdowns more efficiently than with a Nylon Double Breaker. This is because a single Vectran™ layer is lighter, more flexible and stronger than the two nylon layers.
