POC TRABEC mountain bike helmet

The POC Trabec helmet is a new design by the legendary Swedish ski and snowboard helmet manufacturer POC.  POC is a company that takes their design and production of protective headwear seriously.  The POC Trabec mountain bike helmet is a model that has been tested and proven not only by the standard testing requirements but also on the trail by those who are fit to test protective wear.  POC has been quoted as stating that it is a mission of theirs to do everything possible to save and protect lives with their helmets.  One thing that sets the POC Trabec model apart from the rest is it's awesome appearance, they have a futuristic star wars look that is really nifty.

The Trabec in-mold helmet for single track and enduro, is developed to provide the highest possible degree of protection without compromising functionality or performance. The construction is borrowed from how a skeleton is built for resistance and durability. The Aramid filament reinforced EPS core is tough and resilient and the outer PC shell is optimized with no seams at the most exposed areas. An aerodynamic channel system and 16 vent slots provides good ventilation, while the fit is designed to be around the head versus on top, which promises superior protection. Polygiene anti-odor treatment included. Sizes: XS-S, M-L & XL-XXL.

WHEN ENTERING the bike scene, we made use of the experiences gained from our short but successful history in making revolutionizing ski helmets. The concepts that we have developed for ski helmets has been taken further and optimized to reach and exceed the demands of today’s bike users in the DH, Dirt, Free ride and BMX disciplines. The aim has been to provide better head protection than ever before.

NORMALLY, both the traditional hard shell and in-mold helmets rely on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) for the shock absorption. EPS absorbs energy by plastic deformation, meaning it is deformed permanently upon impact. Therefore, a helmet liner made of EPS will not be good at absorbing repetitive shocks.

THE CONCEPTS that we have developed for ski helmets has been taken further and optimized to reach and exceed the demands of today’s bike users in the DH, Dirt, Freeride and BMX disciplines.

Multi Impact Performance
MOST OF POC’s bike helmets use a liner of EPP instead of the traditional EPS. The difference between the materials is that EPP, unlike EPS, does not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable for absorbing repetitive shocks.
